Synod 2008Elections, trends and climate change The first gathering of the 50th Synod of the Diocese looks like being short, sharp and to the point. Opening at Grammar in Launceston on Friday evening, 1 June, the Synod is planned to adjourn by 9pm Saturday 2 June. This, of course, as the opening session of a new Synod is an electoral Synod, with Anglicans from across all fifty-two parishes stepping up to share the leadership and work of the church through its various Councils and Committees. Once again, financial matters will be significant as decisions are taken to approve funding of programs in parishes and at diocesan level which facilitate outreach and growth. Three special interest sessions are scheduled.
The Synod program will appear on the diocesan website shortly, and Synod sessions are open to visitors. |
