How is life at Ridley?Kate Boughton says that this is one of the questions she get asked the most. This is to be expected of course, when it's about the reason that I moved to Melbourne in the first place. There are so many people who are supporting me both prayerfully and financially (for which I am extremely grateful!) so the question only seems fair and I enjoy answering it. One of the greatest things that I have got out of Ridley so far is that studying here is not just an intellectual exercise but also has an emphasis on what they like to call 'head, heart and hands'. That is, as well as growing in knowledge of God there is the practical and pastoral application of everything that we learn. As students we gain from the knowledge and experience of faithful lecturers who desire to see us achieve this. They want us to be gospel workers who will endure to the end, to be people who finish the race strong and bring glory to God in everything that we do. We are extremely thankful to God for their dedication to their own personal relationship with God and to the faithful teaching of God's word. A typical day at Ridley consists of lectures, chapel, coffee, discussion, laughter and more lectures. It isn't free of the stress of essays, exams and daily life, but it is all done as part of a community. Studying at Ridley is definitely not something that you do by yourself (except of course the writing of essays and exams) and it is a humbling experience to share life in this way. I think in summary life at Ridley is about gathering together as God's people around God's word so that we might be challenged, encouraged and changed in order to be effective and faithful Gospel workers who support each other now and in our future ministries.
