Jesus - All about life!

How will we bring the good news of Jesus Christ to all places and people in Tasmania?

That's the question Bishop John asked in the 'transforminglife' document. Part of the answer is by all of us who follow Jesus to share our faith with a friend, relative or neighbour. There are within our congregations people who can do this easily and confidently. The rest of us however need encouragement and a hard to miss opportunity.

The 'Jesus- All About Life' campaign provides just such encouragement and opportunity. First run in Adelaide in 2005 by the Bible Society and a local committee, the campaign aims to have 90% of the population of Tasmania see one of the professionally produced ads at least ten times over a six week period in September/October this year. This very high profile advertising campaign will have the name of Jesus on the lips of a lot of Tasmanians.

The effectiveness of the campaign however is not from the media advertising but from local churches doing something which capitalises on all the publicity. It could be as simple as running a sermon series entitled 'Jesus-All About Life' or as complex as a parish mission with multiple evangelistic and pre-evangelistic activities. Parishes can even take the regular activities that they do but 're-brand' them as a 'Jesus-All About Life' event to take advantage of the publicity of the campaign.

It costs a local church just $100 to sign up for the campaign and this helps the Bible Society recoup their production costs. The campaign budget is $200,000 which will be raised by donations from denominational bodies, local churches, individuals and Christian businesses.

Bishop John says of our Anglican involvement: . . . Seize this opportunity! Friends, neighbours, family and colleagues will be commenting these advertisements . . . join in the conversations, be prayerful activists as the Holy Spirit points people to Jesus.
