A Church life pack for every parishPaul Cavanough gives an update on the latest NCLS. I'd like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who took part in last year's National Church Life Survey. The purpose of the survey was to provide a resource that will help enrich church life. I'm delighted to inform you that in February we'll receive the first fruit for our effort in undertaking the survey. The National Church Life Team will send every participating parish a Church Life Pack with the catchy subtitle 'Life to the Full'. I've received a sample pack and it has all the elements of a very useful resource. Most importantly, it includes a summary of your local answers to the many questions in the survey. This is your parish's personal 'Church Life Profile'. There will also be a poster of your strengths that should be displayed for everyone to consider. The profile is an incredibly rich resource if the effort is made to tap into its depths. Each parish will need a small review team of people willing to apply themselves to this important task. The pack also comes with a wonderful collection of resources to help parishes build on their strengths and also to chip away at any weaknesses that need attention. The survey gives help in nine key areas. What a blessing it would be if every congregation were open to working with each other and God in these nine areas - faith, worship, belonging, vision, leadership, innovation, community service, faith sharing and inclusion. We must not waste the opportunities created by our effort to undertake this survey. Please look for the material in your parish. We need parish members with experience in understanding survey results to volunteer to help rectors and teams work through the material. Don't be afraid to put your hand up if you have these skills. Every parish should be forming a review team to start work on the profile as soon as it is received. I am also available to assist any parishes wanting help. Bishop John and I are excited by the possibilities that the Holy Spirit has in mind for the Anglican Church in Tasmania. The Bishop's vision for us to be a healthy church, transforming life will certainly be assisted by thoughtful attention to the your church life profile.
