Clarendon looks to future of familiesAfter closing its doors as a 'cottage care' facility in early 2006, Clarendon Children and Family Services now has a vision for the future that will enable it to continue caring for Tasmanian families in a proactive way. 'The aim of the new program is to support families, prevent family breakdown and lessen the need for children to be put in care,' Director of Clarendon Marion Rainsford said. 'We want to assist in providing a service that acts as the fence at the top of the cliff, preventing family breakdown, rather than waiting with an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.' Ms Rainsford said an application was currently before Kingborough Council that would allow for the subdivision of the land which Clarendon currently owns. 'It is hoped that this application will be successful and allow Clarendon to sell the land to fund future programs,' she said. Clarendon, a program of the Anglican Church of Tasmania, has assisted families and children in Tasmania for 115 years providing advances in care throughout that time.
