Ridley College online

Ridley College and the Bush Church Aid Society of Australia have joined forces to provide online, distance education to students in remote and rural parts of Australia.

From 2007, first-year subjects for a Bachelor of Ministries (BMin) degree, as well as the Graduate Diploma in Bible and Ministry, will be available online.

Ridley principal Dr Adam said he was especially confident of receiving enrolments from Tasmania. 'Even though Tasmanians who take up this option will not need to leave home to study at Ridley, nevertheless they are close enough to visit us-and us them-when the need arises,' he said.

Dr Adam said, 'Students in all parts of Australia with access to the internet now will be able to benefit from Ridley College's reputation as a first-class centre for evangelical Anglican training, where we focus distinctly on the Bible, Christian thought, and practical ministry and practice.

'We are very happy to have entered into this partnership with BCA to deliver our courses to men and women who previously could not get access to Ridley College due to their geographic isolation,' he added.

Ridley recognises that this project will be attractive to other students as well, including those in urban areas who are unable to attend classes.

Online administrator and faculty member Andrew Malone said the aim will be to treat online students the same as on-site students.

'A feature of our online courses will be to have online forums shared by faculty, tutors and students. Students will be able to interact with each other and with teachers in much the same way as they do now in classrooms here at the College.

'We aim to make online learning the next best thing to actually being here,' he added.

Development Officer at Ridley College is Michael Thornton mobile 0423 397 670
