CMS in Tasmania
and around the world

This beautiful spring season reminds us that summer is just around the corner - and so is SUMMERVIEW, our CMS summer conference at Port Sorell, 22-26 January 2007.

You can enjoy a holiday with the bonus of Bible studies, learn about world-wide mission, consider current issues confronting us in our society, meet new and old friends and join millions around the world to pray for the extension of God's kingdom. Children's and teens' programs are provided and the beach is just across the road! Look for a brochure at your church.

Nepal is a beautiful, mountainous country which has recently been through huge changes in the political arena, changes which make it important for Christians to play their part in praying, and maybe even going to work alongside the Nepalese to provide a Christian witness. John and Margaret Cannell have recently returned to Tasmania and will be visiting churches. Be sure to hear first hand about the joys and challenges of life and work there from two people who have given six years of their lives to being God's people in a foreign land.

Interest in, and knowledge of, Islam has recently been stimulated through Bishop John's seminars around the State. As you read this article, the Muslim month of prayer and fasting, Ramadan/Ramzan, will be underway. It is a humbling reminder to us, as Christians, that we too need to pray.

Pray for Muslims everywhere, pray for Christians living in a Muslim culture where life can be difficult.

Pray for those CMS partners who are working with Muslims in various ways and places that their lives, their work and quiet witness may attract people to Jesus.

Pray for wisdom for CMS as it plans to increase its outreach to Muslim countries.
