Personal story

As Shirley boarded the bus for Devonport to spend a few days with her Mum and Dad, little did she know what a wonderful morning was ahead of her. She continues her story.

My seat was in the second row behind two women. I had a book I intended reading, but this didn’t happen, as I was listening to the conversation between the two women in the front seat. I couldn’t help but eavesdrop as the Lord’s name kept coming into their conversation. The woman in the aisle seat was a Christian and was sharing her daily ‘walk with our Lord’ with the other woman who was really taking it all in.

By the time we reached Campbell Town, the second woman was accepting the Lord into her life; it was at this point that I reached out and touched their shoulders. I apologised for listening, but explained that I too was a Christian and praised God for putting me on that bus.

Upon reaching Launceston, we all got off the bus and hugged one another. In my purse I have for many years held a small cross bearing the words ‘I carry a cross in my pocket…etc.’ I felt at this time I was being guided by the Lord to part with the cross and so gave it to the woman who had just accepted the Lord into her life. We all then went our separate ways.

I just praise God for that wonderful morning. I pray that this woman will come to know the Lord and walk with Him every day.
