Mission to Seafarers

A Message from the Rev. Canon Bill Christianson, the Secretary General of the Mission to Seafarers.

‘As 2006 is the 150th anniversary of the founding of The Mission to Seafarers, I do hope that you will feel able to celebrate Sea Sunday either on July 9 or some other convenient date.

‘We would especially appreciate your prayers and support this year as we give thanks for 150 years of ministry to seafarers. When we were founded, conditions for crews were exceedingly harsh and lonely. The shipping industry may have changed considerably since then, but life at sea is still beset by dangers and difficulties, and our care for seafarers is needed as much as ever.’

Loneliness, danger, separation from loved ones: these are just some of the problems seafarers face. The Mission to Seafarers, a charity and part of the Anglican Church, is there worldwide offering them help and suppport. Contact your nearest Seafarers Mission to see how you can help.
