News from CMS in Tasmania and elsewhereState General Secretary The Honorary State General Secretary Mrs Judith Moxon announced her resignation in March this year after more than three years in the position. Judith put a great deal of time into representing Tasmania both at the Federal level and within the State and the State Committee is very grateful for her work over this period. The Committee has been discussing the way forward and has decided to create the part-time paid position of General Secretary-Tasmania. While it is expected that there would be some small involvement at the Federal level, the main task of the General Secretary will be to further raise the profile of CMS within Tasmania. By mid June, a job description and application form will be on the website (Click on CMS NEAR YOU, then on the map of Tasmania). Closing date for applications is 30 June. SummerViewPlanning is well under way for next Januarys CMS SummerView. Put the dates (22-26 January 2007) in your diary now and keep your eyes open for an application form, ready very soon. The CannellsPlease continue to pray for John and Margaret Cannell in Nepal. Life in Kathmandu has been very tense recently and lives have been disrupted. In the last little while before they leave, John and Margaret want to be able to complete their tasks and have good farewells with friends and colleagues. Margarets job at the school has been wound up and she is now (unexpectedly) busy teaching English to Physiotherapy students at Dhulikel Hospital. Theyre so keen that theyve asked that the classes continue for longer. Meanwhile, the fridge must be fixed before it can be sold, things have to be packed
Margaret and John will be back in Tasmania and ready for deputation around the state in October. If you would like to have them visit your church on a Sunday, or talk to a youth group, or meet with a small group, please contact Acting General Secretary, the Rev. John Tongue or phone 03 6234 4213. |
