Understanding the Islam and Christianity interfaceThere are many books on Islam and Christianity. Below is a list of some of the better ones to read, compiled by Bishop John Harrower. The Quran, Pelican or any reliable publisher. If you quote the Quran, the best version to use is the Arberry translation. Islam in Australia, Abdullah Saeed, Allan & Unwin, 2003 Islam, Seyyad Hossein Nasr, Harper SanFrancisco A Christians Pocket Guide to Islam, Patrick Sookhedo Islam in Our Backyard, Tony Payne, Matthias Media The Call of the Minaret, Collins also, Jesus and the Muslim, Kenneth Cragg, Oneworld, Oxford Any thing by Kenneth Cragg is excellent and accepted by Muslims How to Understand Islam, Jacques Jomier is very readable. Mosques and Miracles, Stuart Robinson, is polemical in parts. The World of Islam: Resources for Understanding, CD, Global Mapping International, info@gmi.org a brilliant resource Christian website which includes courses on Islam: Also a follow-up course on apologetics. Advanced readingYou will need the following three sources (Amazon references given). Sirat Rasul Allah. Trans by Guillaume. The earliest and most authoritative biography of Muhammad. Translated into English. Hadith al-Bukhari. Make sure you get the nine-volume Arabic-English edition, not the summarised version. The Reliance of the Traveller. This overviews a whole school of Sharia. A fantastic reference, the most comprehensive English language overview of the Sharia. A translation approved by Al-Azhar university.
