AMS celebrates a life

The immediate past National Chairman of the Anglican Men’s Society in Australia, Bishop Colin Shuemack, died peacefully at his home in Bathurst, NSW on 5 January. He was 76.

Colin Shuemack served in the parishes of Reid, Queanbeyan, Kameruka and Kyabram before becoming Archdeacon of Bendigo, then Dean of Bathurst and in 1987, the Bishop of Gippsland.

He retired in 1994, but then served as Registrar of the Diocese of Melbourne and later Administrator of the Diocese of Carpentaria. At various times he both chaired, and was a member of, many national church organisations. A past President of Rotary, he was a Paul Harris Fellow for service to the Church, the community and to Rotary.

He was respected and dearly loved by all who knew him, particularly by Tasmanian AMS members. Everyone is welcome to join in celebrating the life of Bishop Colin at a special memorial service at 10.30 am on Saturday 18 February at St Anne’s, Lutana.
