Clergy moves

New Dean for Cathedral

The Induction of the Rev’d Dr Lindsay Stoddart as Dean of Hobart in St David’s Cathedral will take place at 3pm on Saturday 25 March followed by a welcome to Dr Lindsay and Mrs Jan Stoddart, who are pictured above.

Dr Lindsay Stoddart has had a wide variety of church leadership experiences at a high level. They include being the founding CEO of Anglican Youthworks in Sydney, supervising 120 staff and setting up a youth training college. He was Archdeacon of Wollongong, and has ministered in three parishes, including one in which he was the founding minister.

Dr Stoddart has also chaired, and been a member of, a number of Anglican and other Christian organisations and committees. His studies include a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, USA, and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Sheffield, UK. Lindsay is also a qualified lawyer and has been a senior partner in a Wollongong law firm.

Lindsay’s wife Jan is a teacher librarian. The couple has four children and three grandchildren.

Ordination

The ordination of Shelagh Shaw (Deacon), Elizabeth Wells (Deacon), Irene (Kaye) Paice (Deacon), Jill Martin (Priest), Marie Ellison (Priest), and John (Simon) Hattrell (Priest) will take place at St David’s Cathedral at 10.30am on Saturday 11 February .

Parish of West Coast

A service at St Martin’s Church, Queenstown at 9.30am on Saturday 18 February will mark the official launch of Enabler Supported Ministry in the Parish of West Coast. The service will include the commissioning of parishioners and members of the Local Ministry Support Team and the ordination of deacons: Victor Keating (Deacon), Kevin Bailey (Deacon), Colina Bailey (Deacon), James Webster (Deacon), Suzanne Van Acker (Member of LMST), Susan Brown (Member of LMST), Clarice Walker (Member of LMST)

A new Priest in Charge for Kingston

Rev’d Peter Adlem will be commissioned as the new Priest in Charge of the Parish of Kingston at 7.30pm on Tuesday 28 February. Peter is currently the Assistant Minister at St John’s Highton, a suburb of Geelong. He has been a Youth Minister at Glen Waverley Anglican Church, a staff worker for the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students and a Lecturer in Mathematics at Monash University.

He is married to Lisa and they have two sons, Stephen and Nathan aged nearly 4 and nearly 2.

Parish of Claremont

The Commissioning service for Rev’d Stephen Savage as Priest in Charge, Claremont will take place on Thursday 30 March at 7.30pm

Another leap of faith for Colina Bailey from Strahan: Last year she leapt out of an aeroplane. Later this month she will be ordained to the Local Support Ministry Team in the Parish of West Coast.
