Worship, sound and colour

A congregation of more than 1200 filled Brisbane's St John's Cathedral for the inauguration of the Most Rev. Dr Phillip Aspinall as Primate of the Anglican Church of Australia in late September. Phillip Aspinall served for some years in the Diocese of Tasmania and several Tasmanians attended the ceremony. The service was a rich feast of sound and colour, with music from organ, singers, didgeridoo and trumpet, and a procession of Torres Strait Islanders.

The text of Archbishop Phillip Aspinall's sermon is available here and photos may be found on the Diocese of Brisbane website
