4 Families, Fellowship, Fun and Food

A good combination, we decided, as we planned our latest outreach to families in New Town and Lenah Valley. Marie Ellison was greatly encouraged.

We added to this combination detailed planning, enthusiastic leadership, and lots of prayer and hoped we had a winning formula.

Invitations were posted and personally given to friends of parishioners. We planned for 20 for our first meeting on Sunday July 17th. When 35 came and the fellowship room was chokkers with children, parents and prams, we knew we were on to something promising.

Children large and small enjoyed craft, singing, games and Veggie Tales while parents had their spot for discussion, as well.

Our young leaders did a fantastic job. We were pleased to note we had the catering/food side of things almost right. We’ve taken on board the comment of one young man who asked for ‘more of those sausage things next time’.

Monthly gatherings will continue. We’ll move to the parish hall and, in response to parent feedback, the time will change from 4.00p.m. to 2.30p.m.

We’re greatly encouraged by the response to this initiative. One parent commented that they were not a ‘church family’ but they were so glad they came. The local community is rich in possibilities and opportunities for us to love and serve and spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
