AMS NewsWhat a great occasion! There were representatives from AMS branches in every state except South Australia. So many highlights the election of a new National Chairman the Rt Rev. Robert Hurford, Bishop of Bathurst; the Eucharist in the Cathedral celebrated by the new Primate of the Anglican Church and his first official act since his election, the Centenary Dinner at St Johns College in the University of Queensland, where the conference was held. The major project of the National Council of the Anglican Mens Society as they celebrate their Centenary this year, is the publication of the Centenary Book of Witness. The book contains stories and statements of faith from fifty Australian men from all walks of life; the first story is from the recently retired Anglican Primate of Australia, Dr Peter Carnley. Other journeys of faith are recorded by the well-known and the not so well-known. AMS has endeavoured to present these articles from a broad cross-section of the community and Christian beliefs to share their stories with you. Launching of the book took place at the national conference in Brisbane in July. This excellent Christian reference book should soon be available from the Anglican Bookroom or it may be purchased for $15 plus p&p from Trevor Cowell 03 6398 2507 or Max Robinson 03 6228 3767. AMS in Tasmania will celebrate 100 years in Australia with a day of worship and fellowship on Saturday 8 October at Longford.
