Warm welcome

The winter solstice night was cold and wet, but inside Collegiate’s Linmor Hall the temperature was pleasant and inviting.

Amidst warm applause, the Rev. Eleanor O’Donnell became the sixth chaplain of St Michael’s Collegiate School on 21 June. The Right Rev. John Harrower OAM, Bishop of Tasmania welcomed the congregation of over 100, in particular, members of Eleanor’s previous community, the Parish of Channel and Cygnet.

Eleanor accepted the Bishop’s commission and symbols of her important ministry in the School were presented by representatives of the students, staff and Old Scholars. Acknowledging the applause and welcome, Eleanor said, ‘I’m very honoured to accept this position at Collegiate. I have been made very welcome by everyone in the short time that I have been with you and I look forward to becoming part of the Collegiate community.’
