Enthusiastic participation was the order of the day for these amateur rowers in the Mission Afloat longboats at the Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart's Constitution Dock.

Mission Afloat
The Wooden Boat Festival

…what can we say? It was an outstanding success, with people of all ages participating enthusiastically in MAT activities!

The two longboats carried crews of amateur rowers around Constitution Dock, over 1000 in all, from little ones to adults. In the adjacent tent, hundreds of students made 'bag-tags' for their school bags out of marine ply and sailor knots while some made knot boards - both designed by Wade.

Bert took the Focus to display with the other wooden dinghies near the Mawson Pavilion. The weather was superb and the feedback was extremely positive! To quote Ben Marris, Chairman of the WBF, 'Mission Afloat has made a significant contribution to this Festival!' Thank you so much to all volunteers who donated time and effort and made our contribution so memorable to so many!

We have a desperate need.

The Woodbridge Scouts require the early return of the Guy Wyatt [pictured] for use with their younger members. We need to find a replacement boat to cope with our heavy bookings. If you have any leads on a long boat, please contact the office!

The school programs continue to develop and are very well received. As we write, the booking sheet for term one is almost totally full, and all schools have been supplied with information about our warm winter camps!
