Are you a budding preacher looking for some training in putting a sermon together? Are you an experienced speaker needing quality in-depth input and critique? Perhaps you sit in the pews wishing your church's preachers would get some help! A new preaching conference in Tasmania this April will be catering for all levels of preachers from the very experienced to novices. The one-day conference will feature keynote sessions from the Rev. Dr Peter Adam, a highly regarded preacher who speaks at conferences all over Australia and the world. He was for many years the Vicar of St Jude's, Carlton, one of the largest Anglican churches in Australia. He is currently the Principal of Ridley Theological College in Melbourne, and the author of a number of books, including his classic on preaching, Speaking God's Words. Annual eventThe day will also feature six different workshops aimed at different levels of experience and led by Peter Adam and others. Topics include 'How people learn'; 'Passion in preaching'; How to handle the text'; 'How to write a sermon'; 'A Sunday message that changes Monday lives'. The conference is being hosted by BayWest Anglican Church, in Sandy Bay, on Saturday 15th April, 2005 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is being supported and organised by a number of local denominations and is intended to become an annual event.
