For the past seven years Sandra Duck and Maureen Martin of Launceston have been compiling a pictorial index of Tasmanian churches for preservation and historical purposes. So far we have located over 1120 churches in Tasmania, over 700 in Northern Tasmania and around 420 in the South. Our index will be published on CDROM with some pages having up to four colour or black and white photographs of each church. The cost to publish this pictorial index in book form would be beyond our means. Because of the number of churches in the project it will be published in two stages, the first stage being Northern Tasmania due out early 2005 and second, Southern Tasmania, date to be advised. We are seeking assistance from church members with locating photographs or sketches of churches that no longer exist today. If you think you can help or would like more information please contact us.
