The Grammar Senior Future Problem Solving team - Kathryn Cerchez, Alice Gunn, Trent Hasson, and Aidan Morrison - was selected for the national final for the second year in succession.

The top ten per cent of teams around the nation are invited to participate in the national final; in the senior division fifteen teams were invited.

There are two sections to the competition:

  1. The written booklet section in which teams are given a scenario set some thirty years into the future and asked to identify sixteen problems implicit in that situation, then one major underlying problem which they must attempt to solve by developing an Action Plan.
  2. The presentation section in which teams have to design a dramatic presentation of their Action Plan to both convince and entertain the audience.

The top eight teams in the booklet competition were announced with our team placing eighth, a really pleasing result. Our team sang and danced their way into the finals of the presentation section, which featured just six teams.

In a very tight competition, we were awarded third place.
