Anglican Men's Day

by Trevor Cowell

Following a State Council meeting at St Anne's Lutana on 11 September final details are available for the Anglican Men's Day at Mt Ireh, Longford on 23 October.

Men from across the Diocese, together with sons and grandsons - and granddaughters where 'can I come too, Dad?' has been the question - are invited to gather at Mt Ireh from around 10.30am on that day. It will be a day of informality and, courtesy of the Dumaresq family, enjoying the wonderful surroundings of this historic property.

As part of the day a remarkable singing group, The Fellas, will perform before we all enjoy a barbecue lunch. These young men, from the Launceston Church Grammar School are a cappella singers of considerable ability who have performed at festivals on the mainland and on ABC Radio. Their singing is inspiring.

Must do

Following lunch we hope to drive through the property, across the South Esk River to the wonderful Christ Church, Illawarra - still on the Mr Ireh property - where The Fellas will again perform and the rest of us can also join in a great 'sing' in this historic church.

It is anticipated the day will conclude no later than 3pm. The cost is $10 a head for men and a family package will be available. Everything will be provided. This should be a wonderful day and organisers encourage men from parishes across the Diocese to mark this as a 'must do' in the diary.

Entrance to Mt Ireh is on the Pateena Rd between the Perth-Longford road or from Travellers Rest to Longford and it will be well marked.

Contact Max Robinson 6228 3767, Ron Miller 6272 6708, Trevor Cowell 6398 2507. It would be handy to have an RSVP by 19 October.
