Giving hope to seniors

by Bruce Geeves

Jed Crispin found a very useful video called The Hope and after seeing it with people who had completed the Alpha Course, it was decided to show it at Derwent Waters as an outreach activity.

The promo says it is 'the story of God's promise for all people. It is an overview of the Bible with an evangelistic challenge at the end.'

A 'core group' of Christians who take part in a regular Wednesday Service for Seniors had invited their friends at Derwent Waters to view this presentation and we printed out the main themes of the video, to hand out at the end.

During discussion afterwards, I found that I was speaking with a Jew and two people interested in Buddhist teaching - the video was certainly a discussion starter! It was a wonderful opportunity to share the gospel and offer an invitation of hope.

So what did people think?
  • 'It explained so much.'
  • 'Magnificent - the way it told the story of the Bible.'
  • 'Wonderful! but I don't think Christianity is the only way.'
  • 'They had good speakers; I heard it all.'
  • 'It made the Christian message clear.'
  • 'I need more time to think.'

The Hope is available at Koorong Bookshop and is highly recommended.
