St Augustine's, the tiny church in the hopfields at Macquarie Plains

A tiny church big on faith, commitment and celebration

St Augustine's church is nestled in the picturesque hopfields at Macquarie Plains. This beautiful little church has experienced huge floods over the years, with the 1960 flood almost reaching the guttering, where a small plaque now records the level.

It was during such floods that many records were lost or damaged and as we approach the 100th birthday celebrations the Hamilton Parish Council and the Enabler Supported Ministry Team are seeking community help with the gathering of memorabilia. The history of St Augustine's Church, Macquarie Plains, Bushy Park and Glenora in photos, stories, music, cards, newspaper articles and your memories will be most welcome in helping us to re-create a journey through the years.

What a reunion!

The service will bring back memories and reminiscing and is on Sunday 5 December 2004 at 11 a.m. followed by lunch.

We invitiate people to join us for this celebration giving thanks for 100 years and our faith, hope and love for the future of our parish.

Generous community help

On the 18 July members of the Riverside Arts Club, Lindisfarne travelled to Hamilton to give a concert to help raise funds for the St Augustine's roof repairs. We thank all members for their wonderful repertoire of music, dancing, reciting and fun. Their special generosity opens the 'Roof Fund', and with more support we trust the roof will be repaired and keep the church dry for another century.
