Lindisfarne’s Rector the Rev. Sharon Green showed the children how to wear two hats – party hats for Pentecost and the birthday of the Church, and dupattas (scarves) or caps as in Pakistan.

At the end of May the Parish of Lindisfarne set aside a special day for Pakistan, combining a CMS deputation and the current Bible Society project.

Our Mission Sunday worship service was a celebration both of Pentecost and the empowering of the first Christians and the story of God’s loving provision amongst His people at Murree Christian School. Special guests Russell and Sue Morton dressed in genuine Pakistani garb and some of us also wore Pakistani-style gear. We learnt a little Urdu in a well known song.

When Russell spoke he made both Pentecost and his experiences come alive.

In the hall we enjoyed soup, sandwiches and a taste of Pakistani food and John Maddison spoke about the Bible Society’s project ‘Bibles for Pakistan’, followed by a short but excellent video. Over $560 was raised for missions.

Confirmation

Another special day for Lindisfarne was on Sunday 4 July when Bishop John confirmed six young people at St Aidan’s. Two other parishioners re-affirmed their vows and Bishop John formally appointed the Rev. Sharon Green as Rector of the Parish of Lindisfarne.
