Face painting 'for children' was popular with adults too!

Church encourages local community

St Thomas's, Howrah joined with its local community to celebrate the settlement of the Eastern Shore, and held an 'open day', sponsored by the Clarence City Council as part of the Council's bicentennial project.

With many willing helpers Frank Revill organised the day. In the hall and church were displays of card making, cross-stitch, long stitch and teddy bears, 'Children's Church' and dancing from Talitha Kum. A garden display had tips for composting and gardening and there was a variety of art works, including black and white drawings, some fine pottery from Edward Shaw, and carved wood work.

Hitherto hidden

Some adults took advantage of the face painting 'for children' - many large lions and other animals roamed about! Powerpoint presentations were informative and the day ended with music from Jean Howes and Israeli dancing, with many joining in the fun.

It was a day when some hitherto hidden talents were discovered in our church and presented for the community to enjoy.
