The Three Steeples Walk

from the Parish of West Tamar

The hundreds of people who drove through Beaconsfield on Good Friday to watch the beginning of the Three Peaks Race in Beauty Point were reminded of the Passion of the Christ as they witnessed another event: the Three Steeples Walk.

Local Christians remembered Good Friday in an Ecumenical service involving the Roman Catholic, Anglican and Uniting Churches. This year the theme was the Seven Last Words from the Cross, remembered with themes of readings, meditation and singing in each of the three churches with everyone sharing in the walk between.

The leader of the procession held a large cross as seventy others followed behind. As we were required to cross the road between churches, vehicles drew to a halt to permit the cross and the people to proceed. It was a moving ceremony both physically and spiritually, and a sign that we are united in Christ.

We were proud to proclaim the sacrifice of our Lord; to remind us all of God's love for the world - his amazing grace.
