Co-operating ministry at Swansea

by Margo Spurr

On a beautiful late summer's evening on 23 February the Rev. Henry Ivey was welcomed as minister of the Anglican Parish of Swansea and the Uniting Parish of Glamorgan.

The congregation began the commissioning service in St Andrew's and processed to All Saints'. Officiating were the Rev. Canon Robert Legg OAM Vicar General, and Pastor Dennis Cousens Chairman of Presbytery, with assistants from both churches.

Two Anglican wardens and two Uniting Church elders signed the covenant between the churches: to work together in love; to pray and care for one another and for our neighbour; to live together in fellowship to the greater glory of God.

Welcome

A happy atmosphere prevailed and the hymn singing was a delight. Supper and fellowship enabled each of us to welcome Henry and his wife Jenny.

The Co-operating Parish of Swansea has greatly appreciated having the Rev. Rosemary Perrott-Russell as locum ministering to Swansea, Cranbrook, Bicheno and Coles Bay for seven months. Rosemary was farewelled in St Andrew's on the previous day.
