Look out, we've all been infected!

Go 2004 was catching!

GO 2004 was a fantastic time for the young people of Tasmania to grow closer to God and to develop a deeper relationship with him.

The theme for this year's keynote address, given by Simon Hattrell, was Contagious Christianity. In these talks all of us were challenged to make an effort to evangelise by building relationships with our 'pre-Christian' friends. Much fun was had watching actors from the UK show us how to bring up matters of God and spirituality in conversation.

Workshops were also another fantastic time for getting into smaller groups and learning about different things. Topics ranged from 'Cookbook Christianity' to 'Know your enemy'. Each day there was also time for personal prayer and meditation. These times allowed us to get in touch with God and to reflect on all that we had learnt from the talks and workshops.

Trackies

Another highlight was having the Bishop coming along (in trackies!) and talking about his new vision for the church. Many ideas were raised as to how youth ministry could change and adapt to this vision. It was an encouraging time to hear the ideas and projects going on in different churches around the state. Many of the young people also enjoyed getting to know the Bishop during free time, whether it be playing fussball or just having a chat.

Cards

There was also lots of great time for just hanging around and chatting or playing volleyball (when it wasn't raining) or cards. Many new friendships were made and old ones made deeper.

God worked in fantastic ways at GO 2004. Many of us were inspired to go back to our communities and to reach out to all the pre-Christians out there. God willing, we will see the fruits of this with many young people turning to Christ.

For more information on youth matters in the diocese or to get in contact with someone who can help you run a youth event or just to have a chat please email Diocesan Youth Council.
