This was a great occasion in our church - not for many years have we had a brass band fill the church with the glorious sounds of well known hymns and choruses. Over twenty members of the City of Hobart Veterans' Band under the baton of Ray Fahey were joined by Di Hallett, organist from St Michael's and Maureen McKeown from Old Beach, in a varied program of music for an ecumenical hymn festival. David Hardstaff, a member of Tasmanian Naval Band, packed his trombone and joined with the Veterans' Band to play in the Bothwell Parish where he was baptised and confirmed. Local members of the congregation were pleased to welcome visitors from Hobart, Swansea, Port Sorell, Brighton, the Derwent Valley and other areas. The Veterans' Band was very happy to receive such a warm welcome, and enjoyed afternoon tea with the congregation afterwards. Members made special mention of the wonderful acoustics in the church building, and are very enthusiastic to come again next year.
