Thanks for Terry, electricity and fellowship

by John Gray

On 17 November the congregation of St Michael and All Angels, Kimberley, joined in giving thanks to Terry Charles, who donated the time and effort to connect the church building to the electricity supply and wire it up.

Until then, we had only candle-light and worshipped in winter in the local fire station. Now we have beautiful brass light switches, electric ceiling heaters and power sockets for the urn and electric organ. (We may install electronic games at the back of the church as a fund-raiser!)

Choice

The next item on the wish list is a toilet. At the moment, we have a choice between self-control, the bushes, or a half-kilometre trip to the loo at the Kimberley Warm Springs. Seldom before has the connection between priesthood and bladder been so exquisitely delineated.

After Terry and his lovely family joined us for worship, we adjourned to a local dwelling for barbecued snags, steaks and kebabs, salad and desserts. The young people had an adventure down at the river while the adults continued the feast.

We give thanks for Terry, electricity, fellowship and the hope we have in Christ.
