University of Tasmania Chaplain
Rev. Stephen Carnaby

Going to Uni in Hobart in 2004?

Are you already studying or are you a staff member at the University of Tasmania in Hobart? Are you starting study this year (moving to Hobart)?

YES! - There are other Christians and Anglicans there!

Stephen Carnaby is the Anglican Chaplain for the University in Hobart. He can put you in touch with other Christians on campus, and in different faculties. He can help you settle into uni life, and offer support if you are having any difficulties. He can also give you details of a number of churches near the University campus. He would like to hear of other ways he can help Christians on campus.

Stephen studied a B.Ec. at UTas and also worked as a staff member.

There is a student Christian group called FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian University Students). This is a vibrant and growing group - 70-80 students attend the main weekly meeting. Go to www.focus.org.au for more information. Stephen sometimes speaks at the main FOCUS meeting and leads seminars at the FOCUS Mid-Year Conference.

The Chaplaincy Building, Alexander House, at 40 Alexander St, Sandy Bay (just behind the Student Union Building) is a centre for chaplains and other religious activities. You can find a chapel and other rooms there for time out, or to meet with other Christians formally or informally.

Look out for the free BBQ at Alexander House on Societies Day during Orientation Week. The Chaplains will be promoting a medical ethics seminar and other speakers during the year. There is a also staff prayer meeting on Tuesday mornings in Alexander House.
