The MU 'virus' of special concern with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life has spread to seventy countries and three million members in the 127 years since Mary Sumner visualised winning the homes of the nation for Christ. MU members in Victoria and Tasmania have been privileged to have as their guest, Judith Nichols, National Education Officer of MU Australia. Judith addressed issues facing MU inviting those gathered at many functions, to spread the virus in its purest form so that many more will catch the vision. Judith has produced two books: The Programme Planning Manual assists MU groups to plan programs that are linked to the MU Aim and Objects. The second book, Communication Skills enables members to be effective in their outreach whether presenting the MU story or relating their own faith journey.

...and it has been a busy year for Mothers Union in TasmaniaAs we start to prepare for Christmas for another year, we look back at the year that has been, and what a year it's been for MU! Firstly, we had our commissioning service in March when we also celebrated Lady Day, and Judith Nichols visited us in September. Judith led a workshop at St Mary's Moonah on 'Communication' and then travelled to Holy Trinity Cressy for our Diocesan Council meeting. While it is good to reflect on what has been, it is good also to look at what is yet to come! As all our regular readers of Tasmanian Anglican know, Trish Heywood, the Worldwide President of Mothers Union will be in Tasmania next February. To mark this auspicious occasion there will be a service of Eucharist at St Luke's Campbell Town on Saturday 7 February at 11am followed by lunch in the Town Hall. So mark the date in your 2004 diary. You will enjoy getting involved and helping others! |
