Search Engines (News)

Speaking now specifically of the Google Search engine www.google.com, Google offers the possibility of searching the various media releases for information. The 'News' page will prepare for you a summary of recent news stories and it offers the possibility for you to search for articles using specific key words. Unlike the web searches, news searches only appear current for about a month.

Selection of key words should be done carefully. The key word 'Anglican' lists around 2,650 entries whereas 'Anglican Tasmania' gives a more manageable 20. It is possible to regularly visit this page to keep up with the news, but Google offers the possibility of a news alert service which will send an email when a specified combination of key word occurs, with a summary of the article and a link to it. In this way it is possible to monitor newspapers worldwide for the things that interest you.
