Twelve months ago, the Parish of Cressy stepped out in faith, experimenting with a family service on the first Sunday of the month. The aim has been to reach out to the families in Cressy, with a non-eucharist family celebration focused on providing a teaching and worship experience for younger children, although the teenagers seem to enjoy it as much. At a slightly later time, we have a bit of fun with a 'Col'n song' or two, a memory verse challenge and an occasional dramatic reading or story. The local scout group have been coming along for their church parade. Pre-dinner drinksThe added bonus has been the scheduling of Communion in the evening on the first Sunday of the month. This has been an informal-formal service with a less rushed feeling to it all. As the service ends around 6pm, the introduction of some pre-dinner drinks and nibbles has been quite popular amongst the attendees and continues the pattern of socialising, established with our morning teas. |
