Visitation of angels in the West Tamar Parish

by Deirdre Hunter

Although the Parish was saddened by the news that their Rector, the Rev. John Clarkson would retire on 1 September, they are pleased that he will act in an honorary capacity until the end of November, when he and Mary move to the mainland. The parish will give them a fitting farewell at that time.

The honorary assistant priest, the Rev. Deirdre Hunter will act as locum tenens until the end of January 2004. In the meantime two 'angels' are active in the parish - one for the young, and one for the not so young.

The Angel and Hutch Club continues to reach about 50 children by mail encouraging them with stories, quizzes, puzzles and jokes all based on the Gospel.

The new 'angel' has arrived - Backyard Angels - pushing a mower for those in need of help around the garden, all volunteers bringing cheer and a helping hand. This is a new venture, still in its infancy under the enthusiastic leadership of Stephen East. It reaches out into the community and is supported by it.

And another exciting event is just around the corner:

The 125th Anniversary of worship at Holy Trinity Beaconsfield

The celebrations will take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November at Holy Trinity Church, commencing on Saturday with the Annual Floral Festival from 10a.m.-2p.m., with memorabilia displays, stalls and morning tea. This will be followed by an afternoon thanksgiving service.

On Sunday the celebrations continue with a service of Holy Communion at 10.00 a.m. There will be a BBQ lunch to follow with the Annual Boules Competition.

A family event not to be missed - all welcome.
