Calling all grandparents

The seminar on grandparenting held at St Luke's, Taroona in August was well attended, and feedback from the participants was very positive.

The topics included

  • Working parents - regular and frequent childminding
  • Setting limits, and balancing grandparenting with other life priorities
  • Long distance grandparenting - isolation from distant grandchildren
Grandparenting in blended families

In the course of the morning it became evident that there are many un-met needs amongst grandparents today - specific issues that we were unable to address in that initial context. In the light of this, the Parish of Sandy Bay and Taroona, through the Diocese, is organising a second morning seminar on Grandparenting on Saturday 1 November at St Luke's, Taroona. Topics for this session will be:

  • Developing our communication skills in relating to our grandchildren
  • Connecting with the culture of our grandchildren and understanding their world

Publicity and registration leaflets have been sent to all parishes in the Southern Mission Region. New participants are welcome - each seminar is self-contained.
