CMS Summer View conference 2004 speaker Peter Rodgers with his wife Marcelle and family

Summer View CMS Summer School

by John van Emmerik

Planning is well underway for the Summer View Conference 13 -17 January 2004 at Bicheno.

We have received the sad news that Mr Tom and Mrs Ruth Edge have had to resign due to a terminal illness of Ruth. I am sure that all who stayed at the Sea View Conference Centre in the last two years wish them God's strength and peace at this hard time. We have been assured that a new manager will be able to welcome us.

Because we should not count on more than eighty people staying at the conference centre it is important that if you wish to stay at Sea View you indicate this to Jean Blyth 6243 7139 immediately, even before the application forms are out. (These have been delayed, but will be out shortly.) If you do not intend to stay at Sea View please arrange your accommodation very soon. Increasing tourist numbers put pressure on accommodation.

As well as the main Conference Program, there will be the Youth Program, and a Children's Program, all run in the morning and evening, with afternoons free for recreation.

The Bible Study Speaker will be the Rev. Peter Rodgers who has chosen the topic 'Victims of Grace', described as a series of studies of Jesus' actions in the Gospels. Peter and his wife Marcelle served with CMS in Makassar in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Peter taught theology and pastoral ministry. After returning to Australia Peter took up ministry at St Stephen's Anglican Church, Newtown, NSW.

If you are as intrigued as I am about Peter's studies come and hear him.
