New direction for Parish of Hamilton

by Jean Hayes

On Sunday, 17 August at St Mary's, Gretna, our newly-appointed Enabler, the Rev. James Collins, was commissioned. Libby Shoobridge and Philip Pitt presented James to Mission Support Officer Helen Phillips on our behalf.

James undertook to commit himself to this new responsibility and to oversee, encourage and nurture the development of all God's people within the Parish. We in turn promised to do all in our power to support him.

James is the Enabler of the Parishes of Hamilton, Channel/Cygnet, New Norfolk and St Helens, which means that his time with us will be limited. He will conduct two Holy Communion services a month and will allow some time each week for other duties. At present he is concentrating on getting to know the people and the locations, and on fitting us to form a Ministry Team.

It is very encouraging to have such a dedicated person at our helm, and, as far as the parish is concerned, now that we have a definite direction, the sky's the limit.

Please God, keep us on the right track.
