Which team, which game?

by Neville Newett

In this day and age there are many types of team games to be played and enjoyed by people of all ages. I believe that the greatest game of all if life itself, and the Christian Church is the great team, with our Heavenly Father as the one who owns the Clubhouse, our Lord Jesus Christ as our Captain and Coach, the Son of God who came to show us how to win the greatest game of all and to achieve a few goals.

Today too many people sit in the grandstands of life, or lean over the fence to watch the game. But it is time to start training and learn the greatest game of all. Like some football games there is a bit of mud from past experiences in the game of life, but our Captain can cleanse us and equip us to keep on going.

May God graciously give us the faith to run the game of life well, through all its hazards and to receive the prize of eternal blessing and celebration. Ephesians 1.11-23

A prayer

Heavenly Father,

I thank you for your kind invitation to join your eternal team and that you have already chosen me. As you mean business with me, I mean business with you. I ask your Son, Jesus Christ to come into my heart as Saviour, Captain and Coach and your Holy Spirit to empower me to be a faithful member of your team, to play and win the game of life in your eternal premiership. Amen.
