The hospital visiting team of St James and St Andrew met for lunch on the 30th of April to celebrate the ministry of Frieda Tobrman, who has retired after sixteen years as a volunteer visitor. Frieda began visiting the patients at Calvary Hospital in 1987. Every WednesdayAt the time there were no paid pastoral care staff at the hospital and Frieda and the other volunteers were under the guidance of the late Canon Frank Downie (Chaplain) and the Reverend Warwick Cuthbertson (Rector of St James & St Andrew). Frieda was congratulated for her dedication and commitment to this ministry and a presentation of appreciation was made to her. The Calvary visiting team visits all Anglican patients in hospital every Wednesday, offering prayer and friendship. A service of Holy Communion is held in the Chapel at 8.45am every Thursday with bedside Communions being taken for the service.
For any enquiries regarding Chaplaincy at Calvary Hospital contact Neil Vearing (Chaplain) 6228 1214. |
