Father and daughter were late customers who still found plenty of good books to fill a box.

St Luke's, Taroona breaks the barrier again

by Aubrey Brigg

On Saturday 12 July the Thirty Sixth Annual Book Sale at St Luke's, Taroona packed in the customers yet again, confirming the organisers' belief that the demand for good recycled books remains undiminished.

During the customary after-sale celebratory lunch for the helpers, the treasurer reported that for the second time, the $5000 barrier had been broken in raising funds for the Clarendon Children's Homes.

Group leader Reg Edwards reported that patrons arriving at the sale mid-morning, after the initial rush, could still be assured of a good selection of books from which to choose, as about 3000 randomly selected books are withheld from sale until space is available on the tables. These are added to the stock throughout the morning.

Collection for next year's sale has already begun!
