- Since the last newsletter, we have conducted camps
for quite a variety of groups. One group of youngsters
numbered over 100, and we had to enlist the help of Camp
Coningham in catering for them!
- Our school focus has been with primary classes and we
have had some wonderful times with them, making parrots,
fishing lines, lighthouses, teaching them to row and to
catch fish. The workshop has often been full of excited
children and lots of parent helpers.
- The new TS 16 open sailing boat is nearly complete.
Bert and his team are doing a first class job, putting
the finishing touches to what promises to be a most
versatile eight-seater vessel.
- Arthur Hinsley and Arthur Wherrett are enjoying the
challenge of working with the children in the boats.
- Charles Lucas, our Works Supervisor, is busily
arranging the truck for a load of soft fall under the
maypole and picking up some donated steel beams for the
jetty.
- Arthur Hinsley has agreed to be our new
jetty/boatshed supervisor and will be working with our
engineer to finalise a plan for discussion.
- David Heard is in England at present to be with
relatives during a bereavement in his family.
- Financial news: The Dennis 500 has been sold for us
by Kingston Beach Marine. Meanwhile, the Anglican Parish
of St Paul's, Glenorchy has generously sponsored two new
powerboats and donated $5000 towards the manager's
salary. This is wonderful news as it opens the way to
preparations for the secondary powerboat option!
- School visitations are progressing well and a steady
stream of bookings is the result. The project is becoming
established amongst our school community.
- A Mission Afloat mobile display is available if you
know of a busy spot to place it. This display will be
travelling to Synod next week.
- Friends of Mission Afloat meet on the first Thursday
of the month, 7.30 pm, 73 Beach Rd, Kingston Beach.
- Chocolates for sale, to aid Mission Afloat. Can you
help us by selling a box? Contact Allister, 6229
