Gathering for afternoon tea at All Saints Church Margate

70 years of continual worship

by Audrey Roper

67 people joined in thanksgiving and worship in All Saints Church, Margate on 23 March to celebrate 70 years of continual worship.

Many were the original worshippers and Sunday School teachers, and families of those who built the lovely church. The first Guild members also attended: these ladies worked tirelessly through hard times to provide the furnishings and support to missionaries etc.

Renewed

Dr Mike Groth led the service and Bishop John Harrower gave the address and ministered the sacraments. The Rev'd Alwyn Prescott and the Rev'd Ross Chopping, who had led worship in the past, read the lessons. A wonderful afternoon tea was enjoyed outside in the church surrounds, old friends were renewed and new ones made, including some new members for the Women's Guild.

Audrey Roper is the Guild Secretary at Margate and is pleased to report that this service encouraged a couple of new members to join!
