Michael Langley loved the church and the buildings and the congregation where he has worshipped They are a testimony to his care and determination in ensuring their continuation. Mike also had the capacity to appreciate the needs of the church and the ability to do something about those needs, and his leadership style and encouragement at the Parish and Diocesan level were an inspiration. The congregations of St David's Port Arthur and St Alban's Koonya, in the Parish of Sorell, Richmond & Tasman, have placed in St Alban's Church a memorial to the late Michael Langley, which was dedicated by the Rector, the Rev'd Henry Ivey, at a service on Sunday 9th February 2003. The memorial takes the form of a brass bookstand inscribed on which is the following: In
Memory of Michael Geneste Langley We were pleased to be joined by friends from other centres in the parish who, like us, remember with gratitude Michael's contribution. The service concluded with the hymn Guide me O thou Great Jehovah, the last verse of which was sung unaccompanied just as Michael would have directed. |
