Echidna on the toilet seat!

by Sue McAdam

Friday, 28 March saw a group of people from the parish of Launceston North converging on Camp Clayton for the second year in a row.

Mums, dads, gramps & grandmas, singles, children of all ages Ö(and those that revisited their childhood).

The weather didn't look promising. It was 'bucketing down', but we awoke on the Saturday morning to beautiful sunshine and that's how it was for the rest of the weekend. The water in Bass Strait was refreshing for swimmers, and for those of us who appreciate a more sedentary lifestyle, a sit on the rocks, or a walk along the beach was just as refreshing.

New experience

What a great weekend it was, much singing, laughter and fellowship. We had discussions and reflections on prayer led by Ken Box. Our Sunday communion service was led by Ken directly from the bible, an new experience for most of us.

Marriage arrangements were put into the planning stage by two of younger members of the parish. We travelled through 24 towns in about 20 minutes with much laughter as people attempted to overtake others around the room on their 'travels'. The echidna on the girls' toilet seat turned out to be a bandicoot (one wondered how an echidna could possibly have got there!)

A different light

A small group presented Celebration City. 'Johnathon Dough' played by Matthew Grist, kept everyone in awe of his dramatisation. Mind you, the sound of his son crying 'Oh Dad !!', obviously indicated that he was seeing his father in a different light from the rest of us.

We look forward to next year and another great time. Thanks to Tameika, Bianca & Janine for their work in getting it all together.

Kids of all ages from the Parish of Launceston North had a great time at Camp Clayton.
