It is said that to get something done it needs 80% communication and 20% action, and the parishes of the North West have begun the 80% as in February we held our first North West Mission Conversation. Bishop John, clergy, and other lay leaders met to encourage one another by hearing about the innovative and ongoing programs each is doing in mission, by praying for one another and by discussing the outworking of new regional mission conversations and local mission cell model. ImplicationThis is the first of what I see as a potentially fruitful partnership as in unity (though not uniformity) we help each other to bring the good news of Jesus to all Tasmanians in the North West of the state. I was challenged recently by the prayer of Jesus: 'May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.' By implication lack of unity testifies to the world that Jesus was not sent by God, whereas this seeking to work together in mission is a powerful witness that 'God so loves the world that he sent his only Son...' |
