  • School contacts continue to excite staff and encourage bookings. High schools will be targeted for term 3 bookings when the larger TS 16s, the Owl and the Pussycat, will be available. The Hartz Support Service has also given positive feedback.
  • The new Works Coordinator is Charlie Lucas: thank you, Charlie for your enthusiasm in taking up this role.
  • Friends' School has kindly donated a supply of steel to be used on the jetty, and Don Hazell has provided a supply of pine for the jetty decking.
  • A quiz night, held recently as a fundraiser at Margate Christian Fellowship, was a hilarious evening and raised funds for MAT as well.
  • Arthur Hinsley has completed the mooring pod lines for our smaller boats. Thank you, Arthur!
  • The Cheetham Salt Co. has donated a supply of salt containers to be turned into lighthouses by the students in the Shed. When plastered, wired and painted, these models look superb!
  • Our Work for the Dole team is powering on, cheerfully constructing parrot, lighthouse and other craft kits for students and continuing to work on the TS 16 and the smaller dinghies.
  • The Islander 360, first of four, passed the MAST survey with flying colours. (Quote from the Examiner: 'This'll never sink!')
  • Would you like to help out by coordinating an area of Mission Afloat? I would love to hear from you if you have expertise in catering, cleaning, lawnmowing, boat maintenance, jetty/moorings volunteer recruitment and training, and would like to join the coordinators' team.
  • Next meeting of Friends of MAT will be held at 73 Beach Rd, Kingston Beach on Thursday, May 1st at 7.30 pm.
  • Our roving display has spent some time in the Kingborough Council Chambers and is at present in the Kingston library.
