Ministry to Arab Christians

SAT-7 is a dynamic Arabic satellite television service for Christians of the Middle East and North Africa, many of whom now face additional pressure and even retaliation because they are followers of Christ.

'There is a perception in this region that all Christians support the actions of Western nations. Therefore, when anger builds against Western nations, these Arabic followers of Jesus are often targeted for retribution. Our prayer is that this does not happen," said Terence Ascott, SAT-7's Chief Executive Officer.

He recently wrote:

'I have always shied away from 'emergency appeals.' SAT-7 has never before issued such an emergency fund raising request. However, it would be dishonest not to share the real need we have at this time - we need a total of US$ 840,000 for the current crisis.

'In contrast to SAT-7's financial situation, the Voice of America has just been provided with an extra US$50 million for Arabic language radio and TV - for political purposes! Well-funded Islamic media organizations are presenting it as a conflict between Christians (The West) and Muslims. SAT-7 is possibly the only expression of Arab Christianity reaching every Arab nation. This is a time when SAT-7 should be expanding its service, not going off the air!

'Therefore, I ask you to consider making a special financial gift to SAT-7 or beginning regular support for this ministry and praying! Perhaps you are not in a position to support us financially - but we urge you to pray that our needs will be met through the gifts of others who can.

'Forgive me please if my letter comes across as strong or crisis-oriented. SAT-7's voice is critically needed in the Arab World.

'Without prayers and commitment to this ministry we would never have been able to come as far as we have. God has done awesome things through SAT-7, and I know He will continue to do so, especially during these difficult days.'
