In October 2002 St James'-St Andrew's New Town/Lenah Valley Parish Council received information about Anglican Chaplaincy with a request to consider a donation to this valuable ministry in our Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Prison. The response to this request was to plan a 'Chaplaincy Sunday'. God-personOn Sunday 16 February 2003 the Reverend David Lewis preached at our three Sunday services. David shared stories highlighting the missionary focus of hospital chaplaincy. The ministry of a chaplain is about being patient, and being available to patients when their need for God's presence is at its greatest. This ministry does not always see immediate results but is often vital to the recovery of people, as they know that this person is a God-person and that they have the opportunity to experience the love of God. FoundationAs part of our Chaplaincy Sunday we encouraged donations to this ministry by providing envelopes and information about the Margaret Allwright Foundation. For further information about Chaplaincy and the Foundation contact the Chaplains at the Royal Hobart Hospital or the Diocesan Office. |
